July 29, 2020 - For the health and safety of our players, spectators, and communities and under the guidance and interpretation of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer Executive Order 2020-110 (COVID-19) (June 1, 2020) – Specifically section 14, we are currently unable to safely conduct our Charlevoix Youth Soccer sponsored soccer activities, including our Rec league and Fall Travel Soccer.
The entire state remains in the MSYSA's Return to Training 5th Stage. This means that only physically distanced practices can take place. Contact drills, small-sided play, scrimmages, friendlies, games, tournaments, etc., cannot currently take place or be organized by a coach/club.
The soccer board has voted to cancel our 2020 Rec League but we will still hold out hope for a Fall Travel Season with the understanding that if full practices and games have not been given the green light to start by September 15 the fall travel soccer season will be cancelled.
The Recreation League runs from August-October with registration in May. Children are placed on community sponsored teams and learn to play soccer from parent volunteers. The teams are co-ed and take a recreational approach. Team ages run from U-6 to U-14. Since this is a recreational league, field sizes and number of participants will vary per year. All games are played at Shanahan Field.
All parents are asked to volunteer one hour every season. Click below to see when you have been scheduled to work. If you can not make the night assigned to you please make arrangements to have someone cover for you.
Attention all coaches, please review the Notes from the button below.
Also, the below Skills Training Video was created for Charlevoix Youth Soccer by the coaches at the Massive Soccer Camp held at Shanahan Fields. The training session can last up to 1 hour and you can accommodate 10-40 players in the same session. Each station lasts 1 minute for each player. The coach can observe and help multiple players throughout. Kids love it! Equipment needed: 1 ball between 2 players, cones, stopwatch, pen and papers for recording scores. Small prize for winning pair.
