News & Announcements

Updated: Feb 14, 2021

July 29, 2020 - For the health and safety of our players, spectators, and communities and under the guidance and interpretation of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer Executive Order 2020-110 (COVID-19) (June 1, 2020) – Specifically section 14, we are currently unable to safely conduct our Charlevoix Youth Soccer sponsored soccer activities, including our Rec league and Fall Travel Soccer.

The entire state remains in the MSYSA's Return to Training 5th Stage. This means that only physically distanced practices can take place. Contact drills, small-sided play, scrimmages, friendlies, games, tournaments, etc., cannot currently take place or be organized by a coach/club.

The soccer board has voted to cancel our 2020 Rec League but we will still hold out hope for a Fall Travel Season with the understanding that if full practices and games have not been given the green light to start by September 15 the fall travel soccer season will be cancelled.

Charlevoix Youth Soccer (CYS) is encouraging all soccer players, parents and soccer enthusiasts to consider becoming Soccer Referees. There is an overwhelming need in our area for soccer referees so there will always be open positions for you. You get paid for every game whether you center ref or line ref. CYS will reimburse you for the cost of the classes as well purchase your first uniform (shirt, shorts, socks, whistle, stop watch etc.)

This course is for new, first time referees that have not been previously certified or registered.

Grassroots referees can officiate competitive, small-sided or recreational youth and amateur adult matches.

In order to certify as a First Time Grassroots Referee, you must be 13 years or older.

Course Requirements:

First Time Grassroots Referees must complete four (4) assignments in the Learning Center, attend an in-person field session and, if over the age of 18, complete an NCSI background check.
